19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial title for 882 days with success over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - led to him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden trophy following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his skill to play at the top level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing four of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a close deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a return after a lengthy match.
